Harvey Backyard Family Session

There are some seasons of childhood you wish you could bottle up and keep forever. The long summer evenings. Bare feet in the grass. Kids disappearing into the tall, unmowed yard to make up their own games. Collecting eggs, playing with chickens, and eventually finding their way back to their parents for a snuggle.

That’s what this mom wanted to remember. She didn’t want a gorgeous field or garden where her kids had to sit and smile. She wanted this— their typical summer evening. And that is one of my favorite things about family sessions at home.

Your home is where so much of childhood happens. It’s where your kids feel most comfortable being completely themselves. The places and little routines that feel ordinary now often become the things you miss most later. So we let them play. They ran through the grass, gathered eggs, loved on the chickens, made up stories, and snuggled with their parents. I simply followed along and documented it as it unfolded. Because you don’t always need a milestone to take family photos. Sometimes you just want to remember this age, this summer, this version of your family.

When you book a session with me, I’ll send you some of my favorite locations around Boston and Central MA. But there’s one location you won’t find on that list but should still consider: your home. Years from now, these photographs won’t just remind you what your children looked like. They’ll remind you what childhood felt like.
